Welcome to Simply Alpacas
in New Zealand

Latest News: 2 April 2010. Congratulations to Melissa and Don Bell from Tiger Hill Alpacas for their outstanding win at todays Auckland Royal Easter Show,  judged by Peter Kennedy from Canchones Alpacas in Australia and apprentice huacaya judge from New Zealand, Molly Gardiner. (Molly is an approved fleece and suri breed judge)

SUPREME CHAMPION HUACAYA won byTIGER HILL ESPRIT

Esprit was
sired by Cedar House Zephyr and his dam is Cedar House Rustic Ruby. This young male has tremendous presence and maturity at only 13 months old and certainly showed himself to great advantage in a large and highly competitive Intermediate Male White/ Light Fawn class with 18 entries from as far away as Ashburton.

Esprit and Thorburn West Wind, owned by Jenny Durno and Robert Walker-Brash of Thorburn Alpacas also won SIRE'S PROGENY HUACAYA for Cedar House Zephyr. West Wind had been selected in the final six in the same large breed class as Esprit, but although closely examined several times by the judges a little lack of condition today saw him not placed.

Tiger Hill Esprit also recently won SUPREME CHAMPION HUACAYA at the 2010 Franklin Show.
Thorburn West Wind also did very well at 2009 Whangarei Show and was Champion Junior Huacaya at the 2010 Warkworth Show.

Also at today's show:
RESERVE CHAMPION SENIOR WHITE/LIGHT FAWN FEMALE won by Simply Sarita

CHAMPION MATURE FEMALE won by Simply Hope - pictured at the bottom of this page after she won Supreme Champion Huacaya at this same show in 2006). After no showing for years she also won Champion Mature Female at Kumeu 2010, where the judge was impressed with her fineness, soft handle and lack of guard hair at 55 months old!
